History

Picture this:  Two young kids, both artists, meet at Cal State Fullerton, while both pursuing degrees in art.  Let us call them Cy (pronounced: sigh) and Robin.  They fall in love, get married and start having kids.  It's the kids thing that messes things up.  They realized that kids are expensive and that art degrees aren't exactly a guarantee for a lifetime of financial security.  Cy, a contractor by trade and a sculptor at heart, finds work in the late eighties doing high-end construction in the Newport Beach area.  It is during this time that he watched wealthy individuals spend exorbitant amount of money on a home remodel only to end up buying cheaply made and cheap looking tile.  (This is the ah-ha moment.)  Cy comes home after watching such an event take place and says to his beautiful wife, who happens to have a background in ceramic work, "Hon, I think we should start making tile."  The rest is a combination of extremely hard-work, bad luck, good luck, lots of long nights, many more early mornings, but above all the desire to make custom functional art (or just art in general).
